Who We Are

For 80 years, YMCA Camp Piomingo has provided inspiring, engaging and educational co-ed camp programs for children ages 6-16 — all supervised by experienced and caring staff members. Camp is who we are.

YMCA Camp Piomingo’s 120-acre campus has been home to countless friendships, life lessons and summertime memories for generations of campers, earning YMCA Camp Piomingo a reputation as one of the premier overnight camps in the region.

At YMCA Camp Piomingo we believe in the potential of every child. That’s why we strive to create an environment that brings out the best in each camper. With a variety of artistic, athletic and team-based activities, YMCA Camp Piomingo campers are given daily opportunities to find out who they are, who they want to be, and then — with the support of friends and our caring staff — develop the confidence and character to become that person.

  • To have FUN in a safe and friendly environment
  • To challenge each individual in spirit, mind, and body
  • To foster an understanding of international relationships and cultural diversity
  • To encourage an appreciation of the natural environment
  • To instill courage, confidence, and character in all our campers, guests, and staff

As the overnight camp of the Greater Louisville YMCA our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs which build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are the character values we instill in our campers, guests, and staff through intentional programming and relationship building.

Summer Overnight Camp

Our staff act as role models for your camper while focusing on safety (in spirit, mind, and body), the development of friendships, and character development (through our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility), all while participating in activities that focus around achievement and learning new skills during their summer overnight camp experience. We accomplish all of these things while being safe and having fun! We offer a variety of programs to meet the needs of our campers, please see the descriptions below as we hope to match each camper with the perfect program.

Bridget Anderson

Executive Director

Bridget, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, found her passion for camping during her college years when she became involved with Camp Shawnee through the Christian Appalachian Project, a nonprofit organization in Eastern Kentucky. Prior to Piomingo, Bridget worked as the Program Director for ESF Dream Camp in Philadelphia. She worked with inner city youth in a year round after school and summer day camp program for four years.  Bridget and her husband Mark have expanded their family to include their dog, Little Foot, and, most recently, their son Quinn.

Bridget has been with Camp Piomingo now for 4 summers (2 as Program Director and 2 as Executive Director) and has loved every part of camp life!  She is excited about the many opportunities that lie ahead in keeping Camp Piomingo the magical place so many campers, guests, staff, and alumni come back to visit and call home for another 80 years!

Molly Staley

Molly comes to us from Cincinnati, Ohio. Most recently, Molly graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a Master’s degree in Outdoor Recreation. Prior to coming to Camp Piomingo, Molly worked at summer camps for 7 summers, including YMCA Camp Ernst and Frost Valley YMCA. She spent her summers working a variety of positions, such as counselor, unit leader, and most recently, office assistant to the directors.  Going into her third summer, Molly is excited to continue bringing new ideas, hiring great staff, and welcoming new campers and families to camp!

Theresa Banks

Theresa began working for Camp Piomingo in the spring of 2010. Originally from Alabama, Theresa worked at Camp World Song for five years before coming to Piomingo.

She currently lives in Meade County with her husband of 39 years. Together they have four children and twelve grandkids, and three great grandkids. Theresa’s hobbies include fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and football…Roll Tide!

Doug Stone

Doug was a business owner for 30 + years. He has extensive knowledge in facility maintenance, and grounds upkeep. He has been married to his wife Sandra for many years and looks forward to continuing to serve the many children, visitors, and guests to the best of our abilities here at Camp Piomingo.
